Requirements:
Goal: Gaining basic understanding of this business function and scientific discipline used for finding methods to optimize the flow of materials, goods, products, people, information, and energy, all with the goal of achieving the best economic effect.
Outcome: Outcome: After finishing the course, every student should be able to define the notion, characteristics, and specificities of logistics, the logistics chain, flow of goods and services, the organization of cargo transport for third parties; to better understand, based on logistics and the logistics process, the place and role of the post office in the supply chain. After finishing the course, the best student should be able to point out the possibilities of the practical application of procedures within the postal system.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. Definition and tasks of logistics.
  2. Logistics services.
  3. Logistics processes.
  4. Logistics unit.
  5. Transportation chain.
  6. Logistics market.
  7. Logistics in postal systems.
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. Vehicle routing problems and vehicle routing and scheduling problems.
  2. Oral defense of seminar papers, discussions on topics presented in previous lectures, short tests with the goal of determining the level of knowledge of students after each topic.
  3. Workshops for training students to search/use relevant literature and sources of information about logistics functions.
