Requirements:
Familiarity with basic principles of electrical circuit theory and higher mathematics.
Goal:
Understanding of basic components of electronic devices, basic analogue and digital circuits and their application.
Outcome:
Students will acquire knowledge about fundamental characteristics and application of electronic components, basic analogue electronic circuits, power supplies and logic circuits.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
- Introductory lecture (electronics engineer professional profile, organization and course syllabus , relation to other courses).
- Atomic structure of matter, basic characteristics of conductors, semiconductors and insulators.
- Electronic circuit components: resistors, capacitors, inductors.
- Integrator and differentiator circuits, electronic circuit components: transformers, relays, quartz crystal.
- PN junction, diodes.
- Bipolar junction transistors.
- Field effect transistors (JFET, MOSFET).
- Colloquium.
- Transistor amplifier circuits: single-stage amplifier with bipolar junction transistors and field effect transistors. Multilayer silicon devices: thyristors.
- Operational amplifier: basic circuits with operational amplifiers.
- Power supplies: rectifiers, linear and switching regulators, DC-DC converters.
- Logic circuits: operation principles and basic characteristics.
- Basic combinational and sequential circuits.
- Oscillators: RC and oscillators with quartz crystal.
- Colloquium.
