Requirements:
Goal: Students are educated to be able to read orchestral sheets and to achieve basic knowledge about musical instruments
Outcome: Students will be able to attend courses of Audio recording, Audio wiring and Musical production successfully.
Contents of the course
Theoretical instruction:
  1. 1. Introduction. Notes, keys, note frequencies.
  2. 2. Intervals. Just and equal temperament scales.
  3. 3. Major scale. The circle of fifths.
  4. 4. Minor scale. Some other scales.
  5. 5. Notes and note duration. Pauses.
  6. 6. Rhythm. Tempo and dynamics. Articulation.
  7. 7. Basics of Musical acoustics: sound; intensity, pitch, timbre and duration of musical instrument tone.
  8. 8. String instruments. Tonal and directional characteristics.
  9. 9. Woodwind and brass instruments. Tonal and directional characteristics.
  10. 10. Keyboard instruments. Tonal and directional characteristics.
  11. 11. Percussion instruments.
  12. 12. Electric and electronic instruments.
  13. 13. Human voice. Chorus.
  14. 14. Chamber orchestra, philharmonic orchestra and other ensembles.
Practical instruction (Problem solving sessions/Lab work/Practical training):
  1. Practical training program follows the lecture.
